Gratitude transforms our lives.

Prayer

Prayer for a Christ-centered Life

'Your Will Be Done'
Prayer is a personal experience. I'm not always sure how to pray, and I believe God simply desires a heart seeking Him. Below are some examples.

Also, talk with pastors, priests and mature Christian friends for additional ideas for connecting with Our Father, Jesus and the Holy Spirit.

The Lord's Prayer
Jesus teaches us prayer in Matthew 6:5-15

Our Father in Heaven
Hallowed be your name
Your kingdom come,
Your will be done
On Earth, as it is in heaven
Give us this day our daily bread,
Forgive us our sins,
As we forgive those who are indebted to us,
And lead us not into temptation,
But deliver us from the evil one. Amen.

Revealing Honest Feelings and Needs
"Search me, O God, and know my heart…." Psalm 139:23-24

My prayers are often a conversation with God, expressing my feelings, my struggles, my gratitude and my love. No feeling is off limits to Him, Our Creator. Just check out Job's complaints or David's whining in the Psalms and you'll see anyone who believes in God can spill it all to our Creator.

Authentic relationship with God requires bringing all of my brokenness to Him and asking for healing. My truthful expression allows my relationship with God to deepen and grow. He gives me free will. I now use it to express my deep need, love and gratitude for His amazing grace.

ACTS Prayer (author unknown)
Another prayer form is defined through the acronym ACTS, whose steps are as follows:

Adoration To worship, to express awe, love, and joy for The Lord, His Son and His Holy Spirit
Confession To agree with God about our mistakes and sins, to express sorrow to Him and ask for His forgiveness, which we receive through our acceptance of His Son Jesus, who died so the Father would forgive our sins
Thanksgiving To be grateful, to appreciate and honor God for all has done for us
Supplication To request what we need, want and most importantly, to ask 'Your Will Be Done' for our good, since His Infinite Wisdom knows what is best
